Released in China in March, 2026, Louis Vuitton’s “eLVes” is a scent built around contrast. Cool florals of rose and lily of the valley collide with a warm amber base of ginger, ambroxan, and patchouli, creating what the house describes as an olfactory portrait of the contemporary woman: perceptive and powerful in equal measure. The scent is another chapter in Louis Vuitton’s fragrance resurgence since relaunching the category in 2016 under master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. Since then, the house has introduced more than 30 fragrances to the Chinese market, with several women’s releases — including “Heures d’Absence” and “Spell On You” — becoming commercial hits. Cavallier-Belletrud has also pushed deeper into China-specific storytelling: the “Voyage en Chine” collection, released in October 2025 as a limited-edition line designed exclusively for the Chinese market, drew on tea, ink, and rouge as olfactory inspiration — a benchmark for luxury localization. Together, these releases reflect the maison’s ambition to own the emotional — not just sensory — dimension of perfume, in a market where fragrance purchasing is increasingly tied to personal identity.
